48 hours

Well the time has come 🙂 In just about 48 hours we will welcome our new baby into the world. I can’t wait to hold her and to feel those little baby features against my face. We will keep you posted as the events unfold. Until then…we’ll be counting down the hours…

I think Brie had her first sister moment this morning. You know, people ask me all the time if she is excited about becoming a sister. Honestly, she doesn’t understand completely. But this morning, I think something “clicked”.

I was in my bathroom blow-drying my hair and came out to check on what she might be up to. When I entered the living room, I found her swinging in the infant swing – lap tray and all. She was staring at me to catch my reaction.

So, I firmly but gently told her that the swing was not for her. (It is definitely a safety concern more than anything…she’s not that heavy). Well my words broke her heart and I think she understood, maybe for the first time, that not every kiddie thing in our house is solely hers anymore. So she cried, and I held her and we talked…and in the middle of my great mom advice…she tearfully musters out this question:

“Mommy, can I have some pretzels?”

And just like that – she was happy again.

I guess I’ll be keeping the ice cream and chocolate on hand for her teenage years.

Just a thought…

about the many things we use to try and fill that space, that hole, in our heart…

work, errands, friends, family, success, etc. And everything falls short, of course…cause nothing was made to fill that space except Him. I just kinda saw these words in a new light tonight:

John 4:13

“…people soon become thirsty again after drinking this water. But the water I give them takes away thirst altogether.”

Lots of thirsty people out there. It is really sad when you think about it.

God, make me a thirst-quencher. Help me see people like you do.
