I struggle terribly with insecurity…pride…being gripped by what other people thing of me. terribly. and it is so confining, you know? I hate it. to be honest, my late 20s have been a struggle personally.

i seems like i struggle with the same things i always have – but when i was younger the issues seemed smaller. or maybe my eyes weren’t focused on them.

i don’t know why i’m writing this, really…

maybe cause i just wanted to tell you 2 things that help me –

in case you struggle with any of this same yuck.

-keep your eyes on Him, less on the issues. i don’t know – but it seems to me like the more you stare at the stuff wrong with your life, the more magnified it seems. everyone has issues, you’re not alone…don’t let them make you prisoner. it’s okay to enjoy life…you don’t have to have it all figured out first.

-remember that He loves you. so simple, i know. but it is knowing that He is crazy, mad, can’t contain Himself-in-love-with-me that frees me. i guess its because that’s where the whole struggle starts…from deep wounds that have caused hurt…and left me feeling…on some level…unloved. Anyway -reminding yourself, basking in, the fact that He would move heaven and earth for me in a heartbeat is what sets me free. even if just for a minute.

(i have to remind myself very often) Oh how I need/want/crave more of Him…

that’s where i’m at this morning.

just thought i’d let you in…

Share the Shoe Love

The 50,000 Pairs in 50 Days Challenge

I have no idea how many pairs of shoes I have. I do know that my 5 month old daughter…who can’t even walk or crawl or sit-up yet…has at least 2 pairs of shoes…if not more.

On the other hand, over 300 million people around the world don’t have shoes and are forced to walk around unsafe and in potentially life-threatening conditions. not only is it unsafe physically, but having to look down all the time causes these people to also live without dignity and confidence.

soles4souls is an amazing charity that has one mission: get shoes to people who need shoes.

currently, they have launched a campaign targeted to bloggers, facebookers, twitterers, my-spacers, etc…to see what kind of impact we can make when we join together.

the goal: 50,000 shoes in 50 days

go to 50000shoes.com. a $5 donation buys two pairs of shoes.

everyone has $5 (or more!). and everyone has 2 minutes. from start to finish, donating is literally three clicks. no fluff. no hassle. anyone can donate. it is so, so easy!

i’m in. are you?

Nashville-based Soles4Souls(TM) facilitates the donations of both new and used shoes, which are used to aid the hurting worldwide. Since its inception, Soles4Souls has distributed more than 3.5 million pairs (or one pair every 23 seconds) to people in 61 countries, including Honduras, Romania, Thailand, and the Sudan. The charity has been featured on CNN Headline News, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, ABC News, FOX, CBS, and hundreds of regional outlets around North America. Soles4Souls is a 501(c)(3) recognized by the IRS; donating parties are eligible for tax advantages. Visit http://www.giveshoes.org for more information.

So tomorrow is the day. My little sister becomes a mom 🙂 I hardly ever call her my “little sister” cause in so many ways, I look up to her. So many ways. I couldn’t be happier for her – knowing all she is going to experience over the next couple of days. It’s killing me that I’m not there.

She is an amazing person – and I know she will be an awesome mom. Charley will be one loved little man.

I can’t wait to meet him!!

(Sage and I are going to visit in a couple of weeks)

Updates to come soon…
