Family Picnic

Well the weather has been GORGEOUS in south Louisiana…

so Brad and I took the girls on a picnic this weekend. Now if this were the movies or something, I would have made sandwiches, cut up fruit, made fresh lemonade…and placed it all in a cute basket.

But this is reality…and we drove through a Sonic drivethru – then headed to the park.

We had a ball πŸ™‚

What’s out there?

This is my new favorite pic. I just love the way the light is hitting her face, the way her legs show she is barely able to stand up, and the wonder of what might be going through her mind…

february2009-0032Dear Brie,

I sat by you tonight until you fell asleep…

it was kind of a rough afternoon (you didn’t have a nap) and you asked me to stay by you while you fell asleep…

so I did πŸ™‚

I rocked you for awhile too.

I’m saying this because I don’t want to forget these moments.

This past week has definitely been a harder one for you.

You were sick with a bad case of tonsillitis.

On the 4th day, when your fever was still topping 103…and you were on motrin…

you were starting to worry me.

But you are all better now πŸ™‚

After 3 meds from the doc – and lots of prayer/loving/holding – you bounced right back.

You are amazing.

Growing and changing…becoming sweeter by the minute.

You say the sweetest things…

like for no reason…after I bathe you, for example, sometimes you will say,

“Thank you, mommy, for bathing me.”

And I melt.

Lately, you have been loving to “help” around the house.

You want to vacuum, fold the laundry, empty the dishwasher, basically anything that you see me doing.

You are always saying “I can do it, mommy!”

You want to do everything all by yourself.

And, most things, you can do by yourself.

I’m so proud of you.

Today, while we were out walking in the neighborhood, you pulled Sage in the wagon…all by yourself.

You are my little angel.

I would not change a thing about you.

I love you with every drop I have (and then some πŸ™‚ )

I’m forever yours.

-mommy

february2009-0252 Princesses in a Tub πŸ™‚

Well it has been a crazy weekend so far…but I had to share this pic πŸ™‚

I’m just starting to be able to get them both smiling – in the same direction – at the same time.

You don’t want to know what I had to do to get this pic…

Friday – Brad and I went out for Valentine’s to one of our favorite restaraunts…Flemings!!

The food (and company) was perfect.

We followed dinner with our weekly grocery trip to Walmart.

Nothing says “I Love You Forever” like dinner and a Walmart trip.

Brie has had a fever virus for about the last 24 hours…peaking today at 103.2 😦

Hoping that clears up very soon.

Brad made a rocking pot of gumbo (he’s the best).

Sage continues to eat gravel and wires…

We’ve visited with Toots, Nana, and Pawpaw…all that and its only Saturday night!!

Well…I think I’m gonna go hang out with my favorite toddler…cause its only 21 minutes till bedtime.

But who’s counting?

Why does she love the fireplace so much? Could it be those tiny pieces of gravel that are just BEGGING to be swallowed? πŸ™‚

Hansel and Gretel

Did I spell those names right?

Anyway…

I was thinking about how motherhood can kind of be like the story of Hansel and Gretel…

or, more specifically, how my life will hopefully leave behind little “pieces of grain” for my kids to follow.

I hope with all my heart that the nuggets or steps that I leave for them lead them to the cross.

So take a new grip with your tired hands and stand firm on your shaky legs. Mark out a straight path for your feet. Then those who follow you, though they are weak and lame, will not stumble and fall but will become strong.

Hebrews 12:12

Sounds maybe a little ovewhelming – but you can do it! Nothing is more worth it…that’s for sure.

Moms are the best.

Be blessed πŸ™‚

Dear Sage (8 months)

mailgooglecomDear Sage,

Well…you will spend more than 1/2 of this month wearing an eye patch on your left eye!

Turns out, you are still crossing your eyes a little bit – so this is supposed to help fix that before it affects your vision.

You are doing great with the patch, though…it doesn’t seem to bother you much at all πŸ™‚

I love you so much!!

You have accomplished alot over the past month…

you have 2 teeth now, you are crawing on your hands and knees, and this morning…for the very first time…

when I cameΒ  to get you out of your crib,

you were STANDING UP!!

You are babbling all the time…

and we like to think you’ve said “da” and “ma” a couple of times πŸ™‚

Of course, none of your accomplishments is why we love you so much…

We love you so much because you are ours.

You bring endless joy to our family.

From your tiny features, to your big blue eyes, to those deep belly laughs,

you are beautiful from the inside out.

We could not have asked for more.

I love you forever –

your mommy
