Almost Grown Up

Today at naptime, for the first time ever,

Brie said, “Mommy, I don’t want you to tuck me. I can go to bed all by myself.”

Shoot me in the face!!! I am not ready for this 3-year-old stuff.

So she went to bed by herself…and…

About 5 minutes later,

She emerges from her roomย  and says,

“Mommy, I need you to come cover me.”

Whew! That was a close call.

Thought I was losing my job.

Dear Brie (3 years)

april2009-047Happy Birthday!!!

Wow – you are 3 years old today!

…and very proud as you can tell in this picture ๐Ÿ™‚

I can hardly believe that you are already 3.

Your first words this morning were,

“Mommy, am I 3 yet?”

And I happily but tearfully replied, “Yes, baby, you are 3.”

You are growing so fast.

Yesterday – we did Easter baskets at our house…since Daddy was working all the Easter services today.

Well – you got a jump rope in your basket.

You are too little to jump rope – but you don’t realize that.

You LOVE it.

Here is a pic of how you jump rope:

You hold itย  in your hands and jump – and grin from ear-to-ear…

cause you are being a BIG GIRL!!

I have got to get this on video before you really learn how to jump rope.

Half of all my pictures of you are of you wearing a princess dress.

That’s because you wear one almost everyday.

I don’t know why I ever think you need clothes ๐Ÿ™‚

This morning you and me made cupcakes:

april2009-049After church, we will decorate them and sing for your birthday ๐Ÿ™‚

Your big party with your friends is not until next Saturday.

As I am writing this, you just walked up and said,

“Mommy, can I be Belle?”

which means – mommy, can I put on the yellow princess dress?

See what I mean?

You are all I could have ever wanted in a daughter.

You are sweet and smart and beautiful and

the love I have for you takes my breath away all the time.

You are a combination of fearless and timid…

strong-willed but obedient…

a leader but compassionate…

and so mothering.

Sometimes I think you are me in a 3-year-old body.

I can’t imagine my life without you in it.

and I can’t wait to see all that God has for you in the future.

We are so proud of you.

This week was Servolution at church and you were more than happy to serve and pick up trash anywhere we brought you.

You challenge me to be more than I am.

Keep reaching for Jesus, baby girl,

He will be the fulfillment of your dreams and take you to heights you’ve never imagined.

You are my sunshine.

I couldn’t love you more,

march2009-002Good grief!! When did you get to be 10 months?!?!

You are getting funner by the minute!

Last week you started saying “uh-oh”…and you haven’t stopped ๐Ÿ™‚

Every time someone drops something, you say “uh-oh” about 100 times…

it is hilarious!

Once you get going, it’s like you just can’t stop!

Your personality is coming out more and more –

I definitely think you have a little “spunk” to you ๐Ÿ™‚

And…you are really close to walking…

just today you took 2 steps at school!

Wow – I really can’t believe how your first year is flying by.

It makes me a little sad but I know we have lots of fun times ahead.

I can’t wait to see all God has in store for you.

You and your sister are really starting to play together –

which is just so fun to watch.

Today when we were leaving the mall, Brie told me,

“Mommy, I’m gonna make Sage laugh.”

That’s music to a mama’s ears.

And you girls laughed your heads off in the car for a good part of the ride home.

(then you fell asleep)

We love you so much baby girl.

You are so sweet and easy to please…

you eat just about anything ๐Ÿ™‚

As I write this, I am listening to you sing yourself to sleep in your bed.

I couldn’t have asked for anymore in a daughter.

I love you to the moon and back.

We have gotten into juicing lately around here…

Brad got me an awesomeย  juicer for Christmas – and we are LOVING it.

Brie and I make juice almost every night.

It makes my heart smile to see my family drink all those yummy fruits and veggies and it is great mommy/daughter time.

Check out my little cutie making tonight’s concoction (apples, pears, oranges, mixed berries, cucumbers, and green superfood juice)

It was awesome ๐Ÿ™‚
